Actress and singer Naya Rivera, best known for her role on hit series Glee, is missing. 33-year-old Rivera disappeared yesterday afternoon during a boat trip with her son (4) on Lake Piru, a large reservoir in California. Police wait until sunrise to resume the search, which gets them a lot of criticism from fans.
The actress rented the boat at 1 pm to go sailing on the lake. A few hours later, when someone went to look at the boat, he found her son sleeping alone.
He told the police that his mother had jumped into the water, but had not returned, TMZ reports. According to American media, her car is in the parking lot of the port with her wallet in it.
The local authorities have launched a major search. Divers were deployed to search for the actress in the lake, and helicopters were also used. In the meantime, the rescue operation has ended because of the nightfall. The local police announced that they would resume the action at sunrise.
The last post that Rivera posted on Twitter is a photo with her little boy: Josey Hollis Dorsey. He is doing well under circumstances, reports the police.
Criticism on the police
Social media has criticized the press conference given by a police spokesperson. In it, he wrongly speaks of a 3-year-old daughter instead of a 4-year-old son. According to complainants, it would fit in with the “mediocre search taking place”. Concerned Twitter users and Glee fans are calling each other to call the police station and demand that everything is done to find Rivera.
In the series, which aired between 2009 and 2015, the actress played the role of Santana Lopez. Rivera was shown all six seasons, as the series progressed her role became increasingly important.
